DEED RESTRICTIONS

Andover Hill has been divided into several sections by the Developer. Each of these sections has its own set of Deed Restrictions. Click on the entries in the table below to see the Deed Restrictions in their entirety.

A few notes: The list below does not contain all the Deed Restrictions for the neighborhood, only those that volunteers within the neighborhood have been able to collect to date. We intend to make all of them available when and if we can. The Neighborhood Association makes no claim as to the accuracy, completeness, or legal authority of any of this publicly available information.

There are several different formats presented below. The files that are in Acrobat format are scanned images, essentially photographs of the original documents. These files are quite large and require the Adobe Acrobat viewer to see them. The files marked as ASCII or MS Word 97 have been converted to text documents, which is much more efficient, but doesn't preserve the formatting of the original document.

If you want to view the Acrobat files, I personally recommend downloading them to the hard drive of your PC and viewing them from there. This can be accomplished on most browsers by right clicking on the link and using the "Save Link As" option.

COMMENTS

The above list of deed restrictions is a hodge podge of formats that has evolved over the years the neighborhood has existed, with various people lending a hand.

The acrobat images (with the .pdf extension) have existed the longest and I'm not sure who created them. The advantage of these files is that they are an exact image of the original document with all the stamps, etc. However, they are extremely large files which require a lot of time to download and are somewhat difficult to read when you get them.

All of the ASCII and Word format documents (.txt and .doc extensions respectively) have been created by me, using optical character recognition (OCR) software. This produces a compact file that's easy to read. I don't have software that will produce the Acrobat images available for the older deed restrictions. As a result, most of the deed restrictions that we have available are in one format or the other, but rarely in both.

I have no objection to posting both Acrobat and text images. However, I have lately developed the opinion that posting both ASCII (.txt) and Word (.doc) formats is redundant. Since ASCII is a much more universal format, readable by literally any computer in the universe, I think I may discontinue offering Microsoft Word format documents in the future.

I would invite any comments regarding your opinion about the presentation of these deed restrictions. What formats do you think are appropriate? Please send your comments to webmaster@andover.org.
